Family carers’ experiences of CTOs: We want to hear your story!
When Community Treatment Orders (CTOs) came into force in 2008 there was much debate about whether they would improve the situation for people with mental health problems and their families.
Now, 3 years on, family carers have first-hand experience of CTOs. The University of Oxford is conducting research to learn from these experiences. The objective is to hear, from the carer perspective, whether CTOs are helpful or not to a family affected by mental health problems, and what it is about them that make them work/not work in a particular situation. Carer involvement in services will also be discussed. Results will feed into our reports to the Department of Health, professionals, policy makers and carer and service user audiences.
We would like to interview carers from across England. The interviews are freely structures to allow people to talk about what they find relevant. All data will be kept confidential. We compensate people for their time, travel and other expenses with a fee of £25.
