While studying Psychology at the University of York, I became interested in the integration of cognitive, biological and pharmacological models of normal and abnormal function. I stayed on within the same department for my DPhil to investigate the role of the mesoamygdaloid dopamine projection in learning and drug addiction. Since coming to Oxford in 1998, I have focused on mood and anxiety disorders and the psychological mechanisms of antidepressant drug action. I have been a University Lecturer at the Department of Experimental Psychology and am now a Professor in Cognitive Psychology at the University Department of Psychiatry.
